Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I've just found, in my GMail Spam folder, a message which looks like a genuine Diabetes UK mailing, and even addresses me by my correct first name -- but all the URLs (including the From address) are bronto.com instead of diabetes.org.uk as they should be. GMail already had it flagged as a phishing attack.

I've forwarded it to Diabetes UK, but I'd like to warn others to be on the lookout.

Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the Heads up will be on the lookout

Morning - this is an official email from us. As Senator posted, Bronto is the software we use for sending out all our emails.

Not sure why Gmail has flagged this up as a phishing attack. Will speak to the person who manages our emails communication here to let her know and try to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks.

Not sure why Gmail has flagged this up as a phishing attack.

That's the way GMail's filtering works; it takes only a few people (perhaps only one in some cases) to report a message as spam or phishing, and all such messages are flagged like that for everyone. GMail also has automated software which matches email messages against known patterns (either Bayesian filtering or something of that nature), and like all automated processes it probably scores the occasional false positive (and false negative). That's why I manually check my Spam folder instead of putting blind faith in the filters; they're very good, but nothing is perfect.

Just got the latest one, and this time it wasn't flagged as a phishing attack. 🙂

Well when I was booking for The Big Event, as I went to pay, it came up with someone else's name entirely. Aye Aye thinks I. Looked em up and they are Conference Organisers, their web site did not list DUK as a customer, neither did they list it as a forthcoming event they were organising. So no I jolly well wouldn't enter my card details thanks - however Thawped or whatever it said it was.

Checked with DUK and it was fine because they are doing the organising and collecting the dosh. But I said I just wished they had bothered to say this upfront - so one would be expecting that to happen ......
