A shame diet was not given more prominence. Also insulin does not cause weight gain - where did they get that from?

Personally I prefer Dr Jason's Fung's summary in the Diabetes Code which talks about drugs under the categories 'The Good, The Bad, The Ugly' (metformin and sglt2 inhibitors come into the Good with insulin and sulphonureas in the Ugly (weight gain, increased CVD risk and worsening of underlying insulin resistance).
PHarma has no interest in encouraging good food choices given that this would massively lessen their new and existing customer base.

Insulin and sulphonylureas are not in themselves Ugly. They only 'cause' weight gain and CVD increase thru eating too many carbs so to label them 'ugly' is completely wrong. Insulin is a hormone and I'm not aware of any mechanism that causes for weight gain other enabling the body to use the carbs you feed it. If you reduce the carbs when on insulin you don't gain weight and if you go too far you go hypo and thin.
