Insomniacs might be at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a study suggests.

Bristol University researchers found people who struggled to sleep had higher blood sugar levels — a marker of the condition.

The findings suggest treating insomnia itself through lifestyle changes or medication could stop tens of thousands of Britons from developing the condition.

Not surprised after reading book Why we Sleep, lack of sleep can be factor in all sorts of conditions, some serious some not so serious, crucial is REM sleep.

So make sure to get 8 hours sleep at night.

I hadn’t had a good night’s sleep for four months before I was diagnosed. I spent all night awake worrying about work and then developed leg pains… I sleep like a log now!

Similarly, I was awake half the night worrying and thinking about work but probably not helped by my other half getting up half a dozen times a night because of prostate issues, since his operation it's marvellous, except for the snoring of course which he claims he never does..
