I am sad to let you know that Peggy Ryle has passed away. She got to a good age of 88.
The oldies amongst us will remember her collecting her medals and being the poster girl for Diabetes UK a few years ago with her dancing.

She supported the Hastings and Rother Diabetes Group the whole time it was going and was one of the most energetic people going!

She never referred to Diabetes UK though, it was always The British Diabetic Association!

RIP Peggy - You were a legend in your own lifetime.

I'm sorry to hear this, but afraid I don't remember her at all - perhaps it's because I've lived in the west Midlands since birth whereas she clearly lived a lot further south.

(Despite my joining the BDA in the 1970s!)

Yes, I have just done the search and read about her too. An inspirational lady and definitely a heroine. So interesting to read that she was diagnosed during a blackout in the war when I imagine health care was very limited and under severe strain....perhaps not unlike today.
Rest in peace Peggy! You certainly did your share and more.
