Peer Mentors Needed for People Living with Type 2 Diabetes in Bristol

Dear Diabetes UK Forum Members,

Are you living with Type 2 diabetes and want to help others? Become a peer mentor!

We're looking to recruit 20 enthusiastic and motivated volunteers living with Type 2 diabetes in Bristol who can listen, share experiences and motivate people newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. We are interviewing in November and December for mentors to train in January and start mentoring in February 2019.

As a peer mentor you will:
  • Receive full training and ongoing support
  • Develop your knowledge of type 2 diabetes
  • Meet other people living with Type 2 diabetes
  • Have all expenses relating to mentoring reimbursed
To apply for this role you will need to be:
  • Living with Type 2 diabetes
  • Considering yourself to be living WELL with diabetes
  • Able to commit an hour a week to provide mentoring in Bristol
  • Available for training between 10th-13th or 16th-19th January

We still have places for mentors on our Bristol Type 2 Diabetes Peer Support Service.

Our mentors will be training in January ready to provide newly diagnosed people living with type 2 diabetes in February. If you, or somebody you know is living well with type 2 diabetes, and wants to make a positive impact on someone who may be struggling with their diagnosis, get in touch.
