A unique amputation prevention exercise, where a patient underwent four different surgeries by three different surgical specialists ? plastic, vascular and orthopaedic ? took place at MV Hospital for Diabetes, Royapuram.
The patient, Rajeshwari, had severe infection in the foot that became complicated due ot poor blood circulation and damage to the ankle joint. A multidisciplinary approach saved her leg from a possible amputation. This has enabled her to walk, do daily activities and get back to normal life within a short period.
