I'm sure I read somewhere that if you have higher than x amount of carbs in a meal of this type it is better to inject half when eat and half some time later. Cannot remember any more details than this and in particular the time frame for the second injection.

The situation I am contemplating is going on holiday next week for 2 weeks (Red Sea and sun, sun, sun!!). There is a fantastic Italian restaurant we usually go to at least twice a week (before insulin). In carb counting books they specify pizzas by the slice - how many slices to a full size one please? It's a shame Wetherspoons don't do pizzas - I take their food list around all the time. Are there any other chains with anything similar that anyone knows of.
Thank you

About 8 slices.

I used to take about half upfront and the rest about an hour or so later. Now I do one of the fancy boluses on the pump, because the former method never worked exactly since my 'spike' usually didn't actually appear until 5+ hours later at which point I would usually be tucked up in bed, and it would mean I went hypo sometime before bed.

It's a very inexact science and if I were you, I'd treat the meals as one-offs and OK do split your bolus, but be prepared for surprises and just firefight them.

I am pretty sure that Zizzi do a detailed menu with content of dishes on. It's not on the table, but you should be able to get one if you ask. I was in one in August - I'd not changed my diet then but one of the friends I was with is coeliac and lactose intolerant, so she used it.

Hi-I have the pizza express info leaflet if you PM your email address to me I can forward it to you

Thank you everyone for the info - it looks as if I will have to fit in a pizza crawl (rather than a pub crawl) before Monday LOL.

Went on Zizzi website and they have a dietary section at the end of "Menus" which gives the nutrition breakdown for everything on the menu. |This can be downloaded too.
