hi my partner was diagnosed a few days ago with diabetes, he also had to have a stent put in his heart, so now he is on 7 different tablets.
he is struggling with sleeping .
are there any natural diabetic and heart friendly things he can take to help?
thank you

If he is on that amount of medication he needs to discuss with his Dr.

Hi Scary30 I got a stent this time last year and based on my experience I would say there’s nothing much he will be taking that are stimulating. Most likely cause is the stress of all that going on, and my best advice is not to try and worry too much, it sounds like everything is well in hand regards treatments. Something relaxing to drink before bed and NO PHONE, I got into the habit of trying to read all about the stent etc and it was the over stimulating factor, keeping me awake all night.

Paul is right its a lot to happen at once and possibly frightening but there is nothing i can tell you that he can take, that is for a doctor to say. Just relaxation exercises. A warm low carb drink ie herbal tea, decaf coffee, etc before bed. And i suspect that it may take time after all this to get into a good sleep pattern, just do not expect too much. I am still taking most of the tablets and it gets better.

Welcome to the forum @scary30

Sorry to hear about your husband’s heart troubles.

I agree with others that he needs to have a chat with GP or pharmacist before considering taking anything - even if it is labelled ‘natural’ or ‘herbal’. That doesn’t mean it won’t possibly have an interaction with the medications he is on.

In the meantime, he might find these practical tips and pointers about improving his sleep routine handy
