There's plenty of time for anyone who has never tried parkrun before to find their local event, register and print out a bar code to take along tomorrow morning! 5km, timed, same place and time every week, free of charge, informal, all welcome, no need to run the whole distance.
parkrun really is for everyone, which is why I've started this thread in General Messageboard, not Sports / Exercise. If you're a bit uncertain, you could volunteer once or twice to see how the event works, before running. Regular runners are encouraged to volunteer 3 times a year.
See http://www.parkrun.org.uk/events/events/ for 5km events
There are also 2km runs for 4 - 14 year olds only, on Sunday mornings - see http://www.parkrun.org.uk/events/juniorevents/
Personally, I'm trying a new venue tomorrow, as one started last week within cycling distance, so it's worth a try. I'll probably return to my current home run next time, although it's a bit further away, it helped me to meet new people when I moved to a new city 18 months ago.
