Hi Everyone,

Can't believe it has taken me so long to find this website!! Kate was diagnosed a year last June. We have all been on an emontional roller coaster but at long last things seem to be settling down. The problems first started a couple of months after diagnosis when Kate became unconscious several times in one week. Things gradually got worse and worse until May time but then in June started to settle down and life is finally returning to "normal". We finally feel we have our lives (and our daughter) back.

Hi Elaine, welcome to the forum, glad you found us! 🙂 So pleased to hear that Kate is much more stable now, I can't imagine what you must have been through. Lots of friendly parents here if there's anything you want to know, or if you just want to share your experiences with people who 'get it', so please let us know if there is anything we can help with.

There are some good links you may wish to check out in our Useful links thread. I look forward to hearing more from you 🙂

hi and welcome how old is your daughter?

Hi Daniela,

She wad 12 when diagnosed, just turned 14 now. I've just noticed your little boy was diagnosed at 3, I can't imagine that, it was difficult enough when Kate was old enough to understand what was going on.

Thank you!! I'm new at this forum stuff so you'll have to let me know if I don't follow the correct way of doing things!

Hi elaine. Welcome 🙂

I hope seeing and speaking (typing) to so many older diabetics may give you some hope that there's a long and healthy life ahead for your daughter. Havign read your post on another thread, she's clearly made brilliant progress and should get on fine.🙂

Hi Elaine and welcome,
Sounds like you have had a rough road hopefully it is getting a bit easier.
Ive found the practical advice and emotional support on here invaluable over the last 3 years -you can't beat the support of people who truly understand what your going through.

Welcome to the forum Elaine - hopefully you will find it a huge help I know I have🙂
Took me while to find it too (thanks again Monica:D) - think we should all be given a sheet of helpfull websites at Dx cos even parents of T1 kids have to educate themselves - although I know I got a lot more help than some (T2's in particular) you still get left to pretty much make it up as you go along, sadly.
My K is 12 now so ours are of similar ages - hope you aren't having as much trouble with hormones and peer pressure as we are!
Welcome again and hope you decide to stick around!

Hi elaine,

I too was slow on the uptake in looking for support and finding the forums and was floundering for a good while, feeling quite on my own. Glad you have found this and a warm welcome from me 🙂
