i am mum to jess a 14 diabetic who was diagnosed just over a year ago things started well but have gone haywire. she has recently been in hospital as sugars were well out of control. cant see how things will get better, o many factors, weather, stress, anxiety and diet and so many other factors affect her sugars. cant see how we will ever get good control!

Sarah, welcome to the forum! There are many parents here who have no doubt gone through the same, hopefully wiil advise🙂

Hi Sarah

Welcome to the forum, you're in the right place if you're looking for some support and advice. There are quite a few other parents of teenagers around here and I'm sure they'll be along soon!

There are also several posts on the 'Parents' board that may be helpful.

hi sarah and a warm welcome to the forum

things can only get better!

thanks for your messages of support i know things will get better they have to! they have put her on 2 injections a day instead of 4 hoping this will make life easier for her. i have doubts on whether this will give good control. does anyone have any experience of this? thanks again

Hi Sarah and welcome!

My son is 11 and just hitting the teenage hormone bit - so i may need some advice off you soon! Sorry to hear your daughter has been suffering and in hospital. I only know of a couple of children on the 2 injections a day, and i have to say that they both have great control - with good hba1c's! The only drawback is that they cant have a correction if they are high - but neither of them go high - so not a problem! You can always try it and see if its any better for your daughter. Have you thought about a pump - i know they are not for everyone - its a very personal decision. 🙂Bev

Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the forum.
I'm mam to Nathan..he 14..and diagnosed nearly 2 1/2 years ago.. I can assure you things will and do become easier. As you say there are many other factors that can affect BS..as well as being a teenager thrown into the mix.
Have you got a good DSN that can also help you through these times??.. There are plenty of people on here that will help and support you..whatever you need just shout.

Heidi
