Relationship to Diabetes

Hi all,

Really sorry for what might seem a silly question! I accidentally cut my foot today with a razor blade - only just took the skin off the top. As it's on my foot, I'm a little concerned as I've heard of a "diabetic foot attack" but I don't know much about it and the Internet hasn't been very helpful.

I've only been diagnosed for 2 months and my first general appointment is next month so I've never seen a podiatrist or been told I'm at risk of anything yet. I'm afraid I don't know much about how diabetes can affect your feet except from nerve damage and loss of feeling. It's just a minor cut on my foot, should I be concerned? Or, when should I be concerned?
Sorry if this is a silly question, but just hoped someone could provide some information/advice 🙂
Thank you!

Welcome to the forum

What your experiencing is normal.

Has it stopped bleeding if so keep it clean and keep an eye on for healing as some wounds take time to heal. If it scabs over don't pick it as you'll infect it.
When going to clinic write down everything you want to ask even if you think it's silly it isn't honest.
Good luck.

If you are concerned I would get an appointment with a Doctor or a Nurse at your surgery.
