I had breakfast at about 8am, took enough to cover my food and a small correction dose. Just did a reading and am 15.5, although I have just had a minor panic attack.

Can they cause your BG to rise?

Hi chips....i hope your feeling better....do you normally get panic attacks?

Hi Jalapino, yes I am feeling much better. I haven't had one for such a long time!

Came down to 10.1 just before lunch.

I have a reasonobly manual job & years ago i did a hard days work (low bg ! sorted & back to normal ) I have found through experience that its not just hard work that drops bg ( using brain power & stress does it aswell) LIFE ! 😉

Thanks Hobie

Not sure what set this off, but I am feeling much better now.

Hiya...glad to hear you're feeling better now. Personally I find anything that causes an adrenalin rush (that kind of fight or flight trembly feeling etc) can cause my levels to rocket. Work (physical or mental lol) can bring it down but it varies in both cases & is darn near it impossible to predict or anticipate! :(. I think the panic attack would probably have involved an adrenalin surge, kicking your levels up? A bit like when we have a huge hypo the liver belatedly dumps sugar into the system maybe?... (can't you tell I'm not a medic lol). The main thing is you're feeling better now. Do you have a coping mechanism for panic attacks, or have you asked your doc about them? Xx

Any kind of stress or panic will cause your body to release cortisol, which is a natural steroid and as such will raise BG.

Haven't spoken to Dr as this is the first one I have had in years and the first once since being diabetic.

However if it does happen again, I will talk to my Dr.

Thanks 🙂

Thanks for the information, looks like that is what must have happened. Hopefully it was a one off!
