Hi I have noticed that I sometimes get pain in my tummy after I go to the toilet mostly when my bloods are also high. I am just wondering if anyone has had something similar or any advice. Thanks

Not experienced that myself but hyperglycaemia can affect your stomach (nausea is a common symptom) - if my bloods are high it mainly makes me feel tired - hopefully someone else can come along and give some more tailored advice...

Hi @AlicePalace Have you had a recent coeliac screen? Stomach pain shouldn’t be ignored, so I suggest you make a few notes about when it happens (time, if you’ve been to the toilet, what you ate, the time of your menstrual cycle if relevant, etc), and exactly where the pain is, then speak to your GP. They’ll be able to rule out some basic things and give you some idea of what it might be.

Just to clarify, do you mean when you have a bowel movement or just a wee? Thinking possibly kidney stones or a UTI if it happens after urinating and the latter (a UTI) would tie in with high BG levels because you are at higher risk of a UTI when BG levels are high.

Or could be something gynaecological too. That’s why making a few notes is a good idea.

I have had UTIs before so it could be that

With cystitis you sometimes get a burning sensation in your urethra after you urinate which can be quite intense and the need to wee more often. Cranberry juice can help and wearing loose clothing for a few days.

It's not so much a burning feeling it's like a sharp pain

Do these sound like your symptoms.
Cystitis symptoms often include pain or burning when urinating, an increased urge to urinate, and a frequent need to urinate, even if only small amounts are passed. Urine may also appear dark, cloudy, or have a strong smell. Some individuals may also experience blood in their urine or abdominal pain.
Definitely need further investigation.

I have some of those symptoms I haven't noticed a change in colour or any blood

Is the pain in your bladder area or elsewhere? Both those areas can have nerve (?) issues that cause a sudden sharp pain. Before you speak to the doctor, try to identify exactly where the pain is. It will help if you can say if it’s in your bladder, stomach, side, uterus, etc etc. The more accurate you can be in your descriptions, the sooner you’ll find out what it is and hopefully get a solution @AlicePalace

It's more lower down so it could be bladder I'm not sure. I have had an ultrasound scan before and they didn't find anything but I still get the pain every now and then.

Sorry mate - get to your GP and at the very least - get them to test a urine sample. High BGs are always a symptom of something not right happening, if they're not caused by the usual suspects eg not enough insulin for either the food you're eating or your basal dose(s).
