Hey guys and gals!

I was doing so well and did get my levels down but for some unknown reason they’ve gone awol and out of control.

I’ve decided to go right back to basics but I’m worried I’ll get bored with some food choices so I’m looking for good healthy filling work pack up ideas….I’d love it if you’d all share your ideas with me

It happens. I was never a foodie or enjoyed cooking, so sticking to the same foods is easier for me. It doesn't play havoc with my bg. My list includes, mackeral, poached salmon, avocado, sardines on toast, steamed veg, eggs, mushroom veggie stuff. I am lucky that I can manage porridge for breakfast, and handful of blueberries, despite my GP insisting I should give porridge up and make my own granola instead. Ha ha, that was never going to happen. I try not to snack between meals and am ok about 70% of the time.

Birthday and Bank Holidays I allow myself a few more carbs. I do fall off the wagon but don't beat myself up about it I just go back on that wagon. Diabetes is with me for life so i am permitted a few slip ups. Good luck.

Some brilliant ideas from Sharon but you may also find some good ideas in the link for getting you back on track without being bored https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
Those food flasks are good for taking soups or left overs from your dinner meal.

My go to summer pack up was tuna salad. Tinned tuna, kidney or mixed beans, diced cucumber, mild onions and peppers with salad leaves and chopped parsley. Olive oil dressing with a tiny dash of balsamic vinegar. Tasty and surprisingly filling. Not sure of sugar or carb loading as I ate it pre diabetes diagnosis.

It will be the beans which will be the biggest contributor to the carbs but you can easily work out how much is in your portion by looking on the tin. Try what you normally have and test before and 2 hours post meal and see what the increase is, less than 2-3mmol/l is OK, more then reduce the amount of beans.
