A TEENAGER who has endured thousands of blood tests during his short life has proved a voluble ambassador for sufferers of Type 1 diabetes.

William Chanter was just six years old when he was diagnosed with the condition.

But, despite having endured about 12,500 insulin injections and 15,000 blood tests since then, he has never let it inhibit him.

An accomplished dinghy sailor, he will take his A levels at Oxted School this summer, before studying computer science at university. He addressed a diabetes awareness event in the US Congress three years ago to a group of senators as well as 150 other young delegates from around the world.
