I injected in my leg last night for tea.

The area is turning black (yippee - not) with a bright red dot in the middle & it's so painful.

I've bruised before & the pain when I've had it only lasts a little while but this is different

Any suggestions for how to make it less painful?

I wondered about frozen peas

Duff needle was it?

The frozen peas might work, it's worth a try anyway.

My bruises have all gone now and I haven't had any more since I ditched that box of needles and started on the new one.

Possibly but the pain is constant so am a bit like grrr, good job I don't wear mini skirts as its a cracker!

Tincture of arnica is very good for bruises, sprains and other soft tissue injuries. You can also get arnica cream. A herbal remedy that actually works!

Just make sure to avoid the minute spot where you injected because you're not supposed to use it on broken skin.

Hope the pain ain't too bad.

Do you inject in your arms at all? I didn't till I read on here, took a while till I got comfortable doing it but gives other parts a good rest?

Mum used to help me inject in my arms when I lived at home but it got to the point that it burned when the insulin was going in

It hurts when you hit the exact same spot as previous injecs 😱 As said by others Arnica does work 😎

I've done that before & bleep barely covered what I said.

I do check my skin for lumps before injecting, my consultant has checked my tummy before for lumps but I can't feel any in my tummy at the min.

Maybe it's injecting at the top/side of my bum time 😱

I always use my tummy so am trying to give it a break.
I'm just looking forward to when I can use it next

As others have already said Arnica works a treat
Might be worth seeing your DSN at your next appointment and mentioning the bruising to her. I know injecting isnt very pleasant but I dont think you're meant to be bruising. 🙂 so s/he might have some good tips for you.
good luck!

I can't get hold of my DSN & haven't been able to speak to her for the last 3 weeks - it's so frustrating!!!

I don't really have any solutions for bruises but when I finally got to speak to a DSN last week she said to put ice on it as soon as injecting to reduce bruises... I bruise really badly and my injection sites sting quite often for a few minutes, so I was told to use the 4mm needles (which I do.) Not tried it, but maybe the frozen peas are worth a try?

I'm confused about injecting in the arms, I have injected in my arms for 18 years but then when I changed hospitals a few months ago they said I shouldn't be injecting in my arms as there isn't enough fat and it won't be getting into my blood quick enough?? I've stopped injecting in my arms but after hip surgery I can now only inject in one thigh, and tummy (hurts hip to twist to reach bum!)... and my tummy hurts and bruises much more than thigh!

Hope your bruise is settling down Laura

Xx
