Hi My 8 yr old has just been recently diagnosed with type 1 , although after several weeks he's taking it all in his stride and telling us all how to do things. We are still finding it all a little mind boggling and totally overwhelming.
Hi Cazza
It is perfectly understandable to find things at the start overwhelming.
You might find it useful to put a post in the parenting section on here if you have specific question but the others of us are also happy to help in any way that we can. A good rant, scream, moan is also good for all of us at times, and I get to that point now and hen, and I am a few years in.
It sounds as if your son is taking things in his stride, and as he learns more it will be good to let him explain things as it will clarify things for both you and him, and also enable you to help him more when necessary.
There is a lot to learn especially at the start. Have you looked at the book Type1 in Children, Adolescants and Young Adults. It is brilliant and I still use it at a very much riper old age. Well written and easy to follow with good cross referencing.
However just come on her and ask about anything that you need to, or just have a rant if that helps as well.
