SCOTLAND'S overweight NHS boss is on a punishing exercise and diet regime in a bid to set an example to obese patients.

Tubby Paul Gray, 52, has shed six stone by walking four miles in and around his Edinburgh office every day.

The health service chief executive is taking drastic action after his own annual report revealed 2500 premature deaths were caused by obesity in the last year.

He said: “When I took this job I was clear that I had already begun a trajectory of losing weight and I was clear I should continue on that.

“I concluded it was important to take more care of my health.”

Good for him! 🙂

Why use the phrase "punishing exercise and diet regime"!!! 😱

Like that's going to inspire people?!

A bit silly, in my opinion.

But, good on him and well done for achieving that result. It can be done with nothing more than simple walking (which is far from punishing once you've got through the initial stages of getting used to exercising regularly).

Andy 🙂

Well Andy - as they say - no pain. no gain! - but in this case, no loss LOL
