Is anyone on medication for this and which meds works best I'm on solifenacin 5mg but only been on it a week and seeing no benefits yet what is anybody else on and is it effective.

@Nishikoi, are you a lady or a gentleman? I ask because it might help to get thoughts from the right quarter.

Hi

Good question @Docb!

@Nichikoi When you say you have an over active bladder can you describe the problem?
The reason I ask is that, since you are a lady of a certain age, like me, have you considered that it might be related to the menopause.... assuming it is not related to high BG levels.
When I started HRT one of the amazing effects apart from no longer suffering hot flushes was that my bladder how holds all night long and I get a full night's sleep undisturbed by trips to the bathroom, which is pretty amazing and makes such a huge difference to my quality of life having good sleep. It is like my bladder has regained it's elasticity and even though I often have a glass of water before bed I still don't need the loo through the night.... Just wondering if HRT might be something which could possibly improve your symptoms/condition.
It blows my mind that a small clear patch stuck on my hip every few days can make such a dramatic difference to so many health issues.

I battled with quite debilitating hot flushes for 5 years and in the end I gave in and asked about HRT because it was making my hypos and hypers difficult to detect. I cannot believe how it has revolutionised my life and I can manage on half a patch every 3-4 days instead of a full one with the same benefits and no side effects so far, a year down the line. The immediate bonus of not needing to get up to go to the loo through the night was something I had not foreseen and to be honest I had just accepted as a part of getting older, but what a benefit!!
Obviously your symptoms of overactive bladder will be much more problematic than merely needing to wee through the night, so I don't mean to belittle that in any way, but just wondered if HRT might help your condition.

Hi thanks I was early menopausal so that was 10 years back. My a1c level done 2 weeks ago was 49.my gp won't issue hrt nor would my last one. I'm needing to go to toilet at least 7 times in morning and it's the first thing I need when I go out in the afternoon and maybe 2x more while out. I don't leak just need to go. My daily glucose after eating is steady around 8.4.but gp says its my diabetes I'm just hoping meds can help it feels like it's controlling my life

Sorry to hear that. Do you know why they won't prescribe HRT and have you spoken to a female doctor as they are often more sympathetic to the cause. Not saying that HRT would solve it or should be used to solve it but just thought it was something to explore with your GP if you hadn't.
I must confess that whilst I go all night without a pit stop I do need a few visits on a morning before I leave the house.

It seems very unlikely it is your diabetes if those are your regular readings... unless you are on diabetes medication which encourages your kidneys to remove glucose... I can't remember which one it is... Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

I'm only on metformin I tried asking a female doctor for hrt and was given a blunt no we don't prescribe it I tried a male and same result. I changed gp and asked again as early menopause increases your risk of osteoporosis and again was told it isn't prescribed by this practice. It seems that wrightington wigan and leigh just refuse to issue it. I'm being pressured into taking a station but they haven't explained what benefits it will give me my cholesterol is 5 so I said I'd think about it. But that's off topic. I no longer get hot flushes from menopause and I thank you for your advice based on your experience. It seems in this area hrt just isn't an option I can try

Hi I'm on Solifenacin 10mg. Have been on it for quite a few years. I tried dropping down to 5mg but it didn't work. Mainly affects me during the night but with high blood glucose levels can't always be sure it's working

Thankyou for that maybe I'm going to need a stronger dose.
