Type 2
Hello lovely people.
I was diagnosed with type 2, 1 year and a half ago. Very quickly got my hba1c thingy down and was signed off from the diabetic nurse and told not to keep checking my blood sugars.
Roughly 4 months ago I noticed I wasn't feeling well so checked my blood sugars and they were over 20. I have been in contact with my Dr who changed my Metforim slow release to normal release. Last week I passed out with a number if 29.1. My numbers sit between 14 and 29 no matter what I do. Exercise isn't bringing it down. I have no sugar, low carbs, small portions, no fruit and no treats. I am exhausted and scared. My fingers are going numb and my memory is terrible. I was sent home from work yesterday as I kept 'spacing out'. I feel very alone and as though my Dr doesn't really care and thinks its nothing to worry about.

If your GP won't help then I would call 111, something isn't right and needs investigated, possibility that you have been misdiagnosed would be a guess for me, have you lost any weight recently? xx

Hi @Lola-Sian My first thought is could you actually be Type 1. How were you diagnosed as Type 2? You need medical support with numbers that high.

I had a rash around my stomach button and went to my local chemist. They randomly tested my blood sugar level and it was 20! I had no idea and it went from there. I am so so so strict on myself. My Dr is calling me Thursday but I dont hold much hope.

I have lost some weight. My dr suggested a stomach by pass so no food enters my stomach!!!

Are you overweight then @Lola-Sian ? Don’t say if you don’t want to, but what’s your BMI? If you’re quite overweight, that makes Type 2 more likely.

Whatever type you are, those blood sugars are too high. I’d get a list ready for your doctor’s call. Tell them your blood sugars and tell them what you’ve been eating. Also, explain how ill your blood sugars are making you feel. Even if you’re Type 2, you might need more medication than Metformin.

Can't really add to what @Inka has said as that's perfect advice xx

Let us know how things go on Thursday @Lola-Sian

With glucose levels running that high you do need to be careful about some potentially serious conditions, so if you get breathlessness, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting please go to A&E or contact NHS 111 for urgent support.

Hi @Lola-Sian , I agree with others, that if your levels are that high, even being careful, then the Meformin is not doing much.

You need a clear diagnosis, and confirmation that it is or is not actually T2. I would suspect T1, but you need to get this diagnosed ASAP!

Hope you ge some answers today.
