"Sars-cov-2 emerged into humans via the live animal trade at Wuhan seafood market"

Plenty of animals were sold at the Huanan market. December 2019 records list poultry, badgers, rabbits, giant salamanders, two kinds of crocodile and more. Yet; not one animal tested positive for the virus.

"The researchers also took samples from 188 animals from 18 species at the market, all of which tested negative."

Given it's widely established that catching the virus off surfaces is almost zero, this doesn't leave much source for infection.

Yes, they concede that they haven't found the intermediate animal at either the market or anywhere in the supply chain. I think the arguments (with evidence) they offer seem persuasive to me.

The thread offers an argument for this specific lack of evidence:

Absolutely zero positive tests from all the animals tested at the market is a long way from 100% conclusive of animal to human infection -- which the author is claiming.

And then there's the ascertainment bias. The early testing for covid in Wuhan was on the basis you had to have been to the market to receive a test. Which is self fulfilling.

Have you been to the market?

No.

Then you can't have a test.

Can you post a link to where this info on the early testing can be found?
