Being fairly new at this insulin thing I haven't been sure what to expect, but once in a while the injection site stings for a minute after I jab myself. Is this normal?

Yes. Some time you get little bump are you squishing bit fat then injecting or just injecting straight in to the skin also where are u injecting and what medication

Straight into the skin and usually somewhere on either thigh. I've recently started on Humulin I at night.

Yes, sometimes you can't feel the needle, and other times it hurts and stings. Sometimes blood comes gushing out, and sometimes you end up with a lot of bruises. Don't forget to rotate injection sites, what size needles are you using?

I have 5mm needles. Sadly other physical limitations make it virtually impossible for me to pinch a bit of skin anywhere, epecially as the area round my tummy is reserved for the byetta they still have me on. I'm careful to rotate sites and alternate thighs with each injection.

i always put this down to just catching a nerve end now and then.......
