Hi orbison, welcome to the forum 🙂 Hopefully, with the help of your doctor and the support from people here you can get good control of your diabetes and there will be fewer problems with your feet 🙂

Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

I hope that the pills help to relieve the pain 🙂 It's better to avoid most of the stuff that goes on a BBQ unless it's high quality unprocessed meat. The main problems with things like sausages and burgers is the saturated fat and salt content tends to be on the high side. Also, it is best to avoid white bread rolls as they can raise your blood sugar levels very quickly. Once in a while is OK, but not frequently! Everything in moderation 🙂

Chicken is good, without the skin, or sausages with a high meat content - cheaper ones can be bulked out with breadcrumbs etc. which can raise levels. Ideally, go for seeded bread as this is likely to have a slower release of energy 🙂 If it's the occasional treat you don't have to be too strict though - we're only human! 🙂 I have found, however, that my tastes have changed quite a lot since I was diagnosed and changed my eating habits, so I no longer find fatty foods as tasty as I used to 🙂

I hope you get some good weather fr the weekend and your BBQ! 🙂

Hi

Welcome to the forum. I just wanted to say I had a few months on imipramine & came off them in January this year. another drug of the same ilke is amitryptaline (can't spell). GP's prefer the one you have as there are less side-effects.

I was prescribed them to relieve some post-surgery nerve pain. For me they worked a treat; no side-effects. My nerve pain actually cleared so I didn't need to stay on them long term.

I started at 10mg per day (taken 90 minutes before bed) & built up to 20mg. They are actually an anti-deppressant which has been shown to work well for nerve pain at low doses.

My GP explained it stops the nerves "sending crap to your brain" so once into your system I hope the pain you have will be less. It may take a couple of weeks to fully get into your system.

When I came off them I had to gradually reduce the dose before coming off them completly.

Take care
Lynne
