This sounds and looks very tempting.

What's coconut sugar?

And where to get it in the UK?

Sounds quite nice. Can anyone convert it all (the measurements) into English so we can work out the carbs and see if it's worth having a go at?

Mmmm, the sugar is 98.3g carb to 100g weight so it's no less carb (well, ordinary is 99.9g per 100g LOL) The trouble with these slower acting carbs for me is I don't have any insulin that matches it!

Sounds as if you can use something like sweet freedom instead as a sweetner.

Oh yes you have TW. Have you forgotten you are now attached to a pump? :D
Once you are all set up with your basal it will be a great opertunity to experiment with your different bolus options.

Well you wouldn't know in advance when it's going to release would you? so how would you know what to tell the pump to do? Maximum delivery of a delayed or extended bolus is 4 hours on mine. Not much help really with eg pasta or jacket spud* which doesn't hit until about 6 hours later, is it? LOL

* because there's always shedloads of fat with them - cheese and ch and butter, I wouldn't eat either without.

OK Sue, for pasta and jacket spuds, I have sat and tested my blood every half hour until the cows come home because they are summat I want to eat quite a lot. I couldn't be bothered to do that for summat that's sposed to just be a quick occasional treat - it stops it being a treat.

Trohphy

The extended bolus and the extended on the multi-wave is a max of 12 hours...

Another way around it all, if you need longer is to set a temp basal rate has a max of 24 hours..

Me if it's a treat then I just go with what I think, and take a couple extra BG's to keep an eye on it all, then adjust as I go if necessary.

Thanks Ellie, I must have misread that then. Aaaaah - when I did my dry run I was given an older pump to play with/ be attached to for a week - I wonder if that was 4 hours?

I wouldn't bother making it if I considered it was going to be relatively high carb really. There are only the two of us to eat it and from the size, it's a good 12-portion cake. Neither of us 'needs' to eat extra anything! LOL So if I am gonna potentially eat half of it I'll really want to know the carbs before I send off to buy the special ingredients. The cake etc recipes I would normally use tend to be sweetened with Sweetex or a mixture of sugar and that - hardly ever wholly sugar!

Used to drive me potty when DUK didn't quote the carbs on their recipes - they do now but quite a bit is not 'moderated' carb content; makes I wonder sometimes judgin by some of the specimens I see in waiting rooms etc locally, if some people just assume because a recipe is in Balance then it must be OK for them to eat it?

I had the Blue Spirit pump before the combo, and all whats changed in the two pumps, is the combo got a slightly different menu layout of the pump, and it's got a improved dose ability.. So all the times were the same..

As to the cake, wonder if you could freeze some of it!

I'll stick with the 8g CHO each double choc chip muffins I know and love, I think .... LOL

buy a cup measure, much easier for these kind of things.
