Well, I at the opticians for my annual check up. Well the great news is there is no diabetic retinopathy changes, pressure is good, my sight has sadly deteriorated significantly. As I result I need new glasses/prescription to reflect the changes. More money, as I wear varifocals - but as I wear them 24/7, I need to look after my eyes.

She also advised me I am showing signs - in the very early stages - of a cattaract - deep joy.

So old age is rearing its head early

LOL - I'm laughing because you are following in my footsteps. Except of course I have 'early signs of cataracts' in both eyes. The second eye followed 12 months after the first one by the way .......

Deep joy.

Mind you, my man says it's in the lap of the gods whether either ever develop so they affect my sight, but I didn't think he said it quite quick enough for my preference - only when I asked him specifically LOL

Still never mind Hazel - they are infinitely operable, so start saving your 5p pieces - bearing in mind the wait for em is getting longer cos it's one of the things the NHS are putting off to save ????.

It was thus about ?20 years ago when my late MiL needed hers done. Only cost her about 2k ........ for one eye, then 6 months later she had the other done by the same chap on the NHS, cos she'd got to the top of the list by then!

LOL, my mother was the same - although both ops performed by the same doctor/surgeon/whatever, she reckoned the NHS one was better

Glad to hear there's no retinopathy problems Hazel, but sorry to hear about the need for new glasses and possible cataract. Hope it doesn't get any worse for a very long time 🙂
