Oprah Winfrey is standing down from Weight Watchers after admitting she has been using weight-loss drugs.

Shares in the company plunged by 29 per cent on Wednesday, a fresh blow for the company already struggling to compete with Ozempic and other popular weight-loss drugs such as Wegovy.

My Wow! emoji is that the shares dropped by a whopping 29% in a day due to her admission rather than that she has actually been using Ozempic, as the latter doesn't particularly surprise me. You don't really think about the implications of these things but I guess that she is a very significant role model particularly for curvier women and this revelation is obviously very damaging if she is an ambassador for or connected to WW. It just highlights the power of celebrity status and the responsibility that goes with it.
