My friend (type 1) had her operation cancelled due to having a hypo this morning. She find it hard not to eat or drink for 6 hours before op without getting hypo so she will reduce her insulin now and run high till Thursday her op.
Any advice??

The only thing I can think is to highly reduce the basal insulin so she can go longer without 'needing' food.

I was told that it was ok to have sugar dissolved in a very small amount of water when fasting for an operation. Your friend might want to check if this is ok. I had to do this before my last general anaesthetic

Hypo stop or IV glucose can be used to resolve a hypo before surgery.
But if the hospital are not up to date with treatment then reduce basal to stop the hypo. If your friend can not go 6 hours without food due to hypo's then her basal needs looking at anyway.
