Online study to understand why some people with diabetes experience emotional distress

At present, it is unclear why some people living with type 1 and type 2 diabetes experience emotional distress and others do not. We are interested in what psychological factors may explain this. This understanding will help to develop more effective treatment strategies in the future.

Taking part in the study will involve completing an online questionnaire. You DO NOT need to have experienced emotional distress to take part.

To take part you must:

· Be aged 18 or above

· Have a diagnosis of type 1 or type 2 diabetes

· Be able to complete questionnaires in English by yourself

If you choose to take part, you will be asked to complete the questionnaire on four separate occasions. In order for us to get in touch with you on these occasions, and to enter you into the prize draw, we will need to take some contact details on completion of the first survey. Contact details will be kept private and confidential and stored separately from the survey responses.

This has been approved, please help if you can.

There is a fault with the questionnaire on the bit where you have to agree/disagree in that there's a line of buttons at the top without a question hence I cannot answer it, I click Done, it continues to the next page of Qs but then keeps taking me back to tell me I haven't answered !!

I encountered the same problem.

Oh well Lin - I have 'Reported' this so we'll have to see if we get told it's been changed.

@sarah_uni_of_liv

please can you check your questionnaire. Members have discovered an error which makes it impossible to complete.

I will contact the person.

The linked page says

Who has reviewed the study?
This study has been reviewed and approved by NRES XXX – XXXX Research Ethics Committee (Ref XXXXXX).

Which is not entirely reassuring!

Apologies for this, the following is now visible in the survey: "This study has been reviewed and approved by NRES North East - Newcastle & North Tyneside 2 Research Ethics Committee (Ref: 19/NE/0283)"

Hi Jenny,
Sorry to hear of the issue you've experienced with the survey. I've looked into this but haven't been able to identify an issue. The only reason the next page shouldn't load is if one row hasn't been completed. If at all possible, could you send a screenshot of the page to me at sarah.mather@liverpool.ac.uk and I will look into this further?
Apologies for any inconvenience.
Best wishes,
Sarah

Hi Jenny,
I've identified this issue, no need to forward a screenshot. The issue has been resolved and you should be able to continue the survey.
Thank you for taking part in the study and for pointing this out.
Best wishes,
Sarah

Well I tried to do the survey but it wouldn't even load! Clearly not tested properly so I'll give it a miss.

That’s a bit frustrating for you Felicia. Not sure what went wrong - It’s loading OK for me.

When I opened the link it took me straight to where I'd originally got to - which of course I couldn't progress from cos it told me I needed to answer all the Qs - so we hadn't moved on at all. So - I answered the top line of dots without a question as 'Not at all' or whatever the left hand answer was and carried on and did the rest.
