I've been, I've got the gubbins, roll on bedtiime. On the plus side, I don't have to stay up all night after all. It was a locum DSN I saw and she said testing every hour was a waste of a good night's sleep and there is only a really slim chance of any hypos on such a small dose. It will take about 4 or 5 days, she told me, for there to be any noticeable difference and I should call her on Monday to tell her what's changed. We'll decide then whether to increase the dose. She told me I may have to go up to around 20 mg before my numbers really start to fall and if there hasn't been a real improvement by that time then they'll need to consider adding a fast-acting as well. I'm to stay on the Byetta for now as it's helping me lose weight.
It was so nice to talk to someone who clearly knew what she was talking about (i.e., she agreed with me) and didn't treat me like an idiot. I found out at the end of the appointment she's a 1.5 herself and has been through the whole rigmarole over the last ten years. She said she'd had a lot of problems with T2 meds herself and hadn't been able to get any real control until she went on insulin 6 years ago. I'm to see her again in 3 weeks.
