Not to exclude the men folk. Just didn’t want you wandering in here, thinking I was asking about bicycles!!!

I was perimenopausal before I was T2 (pretty sure there's a link there but not the topic here!). I've had a Mirena for the past 18months as part of my HRT and it's been brilliant. I do get very, very occasional light break through periods (maybe 2 this year but not problematic).

This past week, I have been struggling with the low carb/fasting pattern that has been brilliant for me since diagnosis in July. I stopped craving carbs after about 4 weeks of eating this way and haven't missed them at all, until this week. I have eaten three meals a day this week on several days, as I've felt so hungry and I have really, really struggled not to choose carb heavy options for those meals. Even when I have managed to resist, my blood glucose has been generally a little higher. I sit fasting around low- mid 5s. All this week, fasting has sat low to mid 6s. No surprise who turned up today then! In some ways, its a relief to know there's a reason - other than failure of willpower on my part. Dang hormones.

I just wanted to check in and, hopefully, get some reassurance that this (especially the BG rises) is 'normal' for diabetic women who have periods?
