has anyone had a change in their periods since developing diabetes? My periods have become really heavy and extremely painful making me feel a little light headed and a little nauseous. Taking regular pain relief and heat packs but the pain still cutting through using super plus tampons and having leakage after couple of hours. Before having my daughter I used to suffer like this but haven't had these issues for a long time (daughter is nearly 10) Period itself is lasting around 5 days stops a day then comes again for couple of days. Is this just another joy of this condition or should I see my GP?
Thanks girls!

See your GP - it's nowt whatever to do with your diabetes.

I suddenly started getting heavier and heavier still periods - couldn't get from the bedroom to the bathroom when I woke up in a morning, without coming back some time later having cleaned and sorted myself out - to clean and sort the carpets and bed clothes and mattress cover. The only reaction from my own GP was 'Well - some women do get heavy periods!' Thank you I said - that's most unhelpful because I could have told YOU that every sodding month since September 1961 ! he offered nothing else at all. So instead of walking out of the front door of the surgery I went to the rear where the nurse's room was - you just sat outside her door and took your turn - I asked her who might be more sympathetic to feminine ills than who I'd just seen. At first she was all non-commital but after asking who I'd seen - she suggested another GP at the practice - who was a lot more helpful.

Turned out it was fibroids so wasn't going to improve, but just got worse so I had to take 'the ultimate step' in the finish for my own flippin sanity.

I did find that using both internal protection AND a mega absorbent sanitary 'towel' with a fresh one to hand in the top drawer of my bedside table BEFORE getting out of bed in a morning - was the only way out - which needed changing every 2-3 hours until I gave up the struggle - such a relief! In the finish they were completely round everything and I also had quite a bit of endometriosis - which surprised both the surgeon and me.

It's far too central for our normal lives, to ignore - and you are too important to neglect anyway, so don't.

OK I'll book an appointment with the GP thank you so much for your help.
