Hi all,
Well, i just checked my emails and found one from Alex's consultant.
He has sent an email to BUPA telling them that the use of the cgm will greatly enhance the ongoing level of care required to achieve much better diabetes control!
In the letter he praises Alex and his parents for putting 100% commitment into trying to gain good control, but that unfortunately, it is still resulting in hypo's and hyper's. So the use of a cgm will help us to look for patterns etc..

He has also asked if they will fund a pump - but i know they will say no, as they never fund equipment - but it was worth a try. More importantly, it is an indication that the consultant also wants Alex on a pump!

So we have gone from feeling a bit deflated - to very hopeful - all in the space of a couple of hours!:DBev

Superb Bev, am very pleased to hear your getting such great back up :D

Bev, things have got to turn for you. I can't believe you are having to carry on with so little real support. This must mean things are turning for good.

Everyone who wants one should have a pump and CGM. End of story. The economics, to my mind, are sound, given the savings on long-term care. But hey, what do I know.

Sending hope your way Bev.

Hmmm...methinks the consultant is a lot more savvy than that stoopid doctor! I hope you take heart from the praise, Bev, you have worked soooo hard!🙂

good news well come x hope all goes well

Will keep my fingers crossed, hope goes well for you.

At last, a well deserved pat on the back for you both.

Great news, Bev! I will keep everything crossed that eventually you will get a pump too.
We wanted one so much but didn't stand a chance because my son's control was good and we were such supportive parents! It was horrible because it was like taking good care was working against us!

As i have said before, unfortunately (or, as it happens, fortunately!) he developed a needle phobia which also led to him injecting in the same spot as he too upset to move around the sites which led to lumps. Also as he came out of his honeymoon period his levels not so good. All this built enough of a case for him to be put forward for a pump and the answer was yes.

I do not know anything about cgm. What is this? 🙂

Hi bev,

That's top news to hear...got everything crossed for you....:D
