A new once-weekly basal insulin injection demonstrated similar efficacy and safety and a lower rate of low blood sugar episodes compared with a daily basal insulin, according to a phase 2 clinical trial.

I’ve never understood why there is so much effort going in to developing products like this.

A smart insulin that adjusts and adapts to insulin needs seems far more beneficial.

But ultra-long Insulins to save an injection or two? ... *shrugs*

Perhaps it’s more of a T2 strategy? But there is no appeal at all to me in an insulin that I have to commit to knowing what i’ll be doing for a whole week.

A half day‘s commitment of premixed insulin was straightjacket enough.

Does it appeal to you @Amity Island ?

It does say it’s aimed at Type 2s, @everydayupsanddowns , and the 'advantages' listed seem to be on the compliance and willingness to start insulin side, rather than fine control. So I can’t see an advantage for someone who is happy to inject every day and will remember to do so.
Certainly wouldn’t work for someone like me, who had to move from once a day to twice a day basal insulin to get blood sugars to play ball.

Ah! That makes more sense!

I confess I went by the headline, rather than reading the detail (naughty!)
