B. Braun Medical Ltd. has taken the decision to discontinue the Omnitest® 3 and Omnitest® 5 blood glucose meter from the UK market. This decision was taken as methods of diabetes treatment are rapidly evolving. We have observed a clear trend away from intermittent (BGM) blood glucose monitoring, such as B. Braun Omnitest®, towards continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) which allows more adherence to therapy and a better quality of life for patients.

The discontinuation will be implemented gradually with completion envisaged for the end of 2021:

  • 30th September 2020: no new Omnitest® 3 or Omnitest® 5 meters will be available. Patients requiring new or replacement meters will be advised to seek an alternative provider.
  • 31st December 2021: Omnitest® 3 and Omnitest® 5 test strips will be removed from Drug Tariff and will no longer be available on prescription or to purchase.
As part of this process the Omnican® Lance Soft lancets will also be removed from the Drug Tariff from the 31st December 2021.

Please note: Due to the added benefits the FORA Advance Blood Glucose and Ketone meter offers, it will remain in the company’s portfolio and available to patients along with the Omnican Fine® pen needle range.

Hi Mike,
sorry that this is nothing to do with what you have written, but I didn’t know a quicker way to send this! A few days ago you asked me my old membership details to see if you could amalgamate it with my new one! I’ve found it
My avatar was a purple flower and my password ‘action replay’ ? Hope this enough

Sorry about my letters being all over the place. it’s my MS! And I have had Thyroid cancer, which I recovered well from. Still have medication, and shaky hands!
