Hi everyone hope you are all well. I have a starting date to start the omnibus 5. I’m so excited . Just want some feedback of any users of it . Many thanks x

Thanks for the chuckle @scatty17

I think your device auto-corrected Omnipod for you. 😛

Just imagining you trying to wear a bus on your arm. Might make the choosing of infusion sites tricky

Will you be using Omnipod 5 with sensors as a hybrid loop?

Yes, I also had a chuckle too when I first read it.

I think I have read that some people have issues with the Libre 2+ maintaining connection with the Omnipod 5 in closed loop unless they are on the same side of the body and relatively closely located with a clear line of sight between the two. I believe @PattiEvans has that system.

I am guessing this will be your first pump since you haven't long been diagnosed?

Like everything to do with this condition they can be frustrating, and take time to learn how to get the best from the system. Worth it though.

I'm now achieving a consistent TIR of around 90% the occasional day I'm even up to 100%

Hope you get on really well with it @scatty17

We have a few ‘podders’ who are really keen, and get great results - but like all things with diabetes there’s an inevitable learning curve, and there will be a few things to get your head around as part of the switch.

Do you have long before your start date?

Great little pump, have only ever used Omnipod pump as wanted a non tubed pump from start.

Omnipod 5 is great as it loops with Dexcom G6, both together with automated insulin adjustment gives much improved bg levels than previous versions of Omnipod pumps. Can't really think of many negatives, one would be if it was possible to control pump by a phone app then that would be ideal but I believe that will soon be possible as they've developed a app to do just this, sure it was meant to be available this year but not heard anything yet.

I have been on the Omnipod 5/Libre 2+ since the end of June and in that time I have been 77% in target range with no lows. Slightly disappointing as I was achieving that prior to being on the closed loop system when I was on the Omnipod Dash with Libre 2. I do have more highs than expected and it doesn't seem to correct as I would expect. I do suspect that the settings are a bit wrong - I was on an online course with 10 of us and we all set up our own systems. We were then left to it with no support. I have an appointment with the DSN on 13th November (almost a year since my last appointment) and am hoping to get some tweaks done to iron out the problems.

Also I find having to have the pod "in line of sight" with the sensor severely limits the places I can put it in order to have rotation of sites. The PDM doesn't give a lot of information that I had been used to having from the phone app. However, I can log into https://eu.my.glooko.com/ to get a much more comprehensive overview of results. Another slight disadvantage (to me) is that the target can only be set at 6.1 whereas I prefer a target of 5.5.

I'm possibly nit-picking!!! For someone who has not previously been on a pump it will be a revelation.
