Can old threads ie from a few years ago be deleted?

I think a blanket deletion of all older threads would be a great pity, it can be very illuminating and interesting looking back! Also, when something rare or unusual is raised it can be helpful for people searching information or views.

You can delete your own posts at any time - and possibly the whole of any thread you started? I am not sure about the latter.

If you want to avoid posting on old threads, just look at the date at the top of the first/last posts, or on the forum list.

Sorry but I wouldn’t like my old threads deleted, also their are interesting posts on peoples old threads that are helpful not only to members but guests too.
And I would hate it if our much loved and respected members who are sadly no longer with us . threads and posts were removed.

Absolutely!!

We do have quite a lot of new members replying to old threads and expecting a reply as if they haven’t noticed how old the thread is. Would it be possible maybe to highlight the date on threads which have not had new posts added for e.g. 6 months? Then you don’t have to delete anything, everything is still there for people to read if they want to, but it would be more obvious which are the current threads which you are more likely to get an answer on. @everydayupsanddowns can anything like this be done?

The forum is a treasure trove of information, much of it still pertinent, interesting and thought provoking even after some years have passed.

Deleting historical posts would in my opinion immeasurably dilute the usefulness of this great digital resource perhaps beyond repair.

I have found great tidbits from as long ago as 2015 greatly aiding my diabetes management!

Hi mum2westiesGill,

I hope you are well. if there's a specific reason, we'd be happy to look into it for you, just send us a message or an email.

Generally though, we don't delete threads for the reasons kindly shared above. Older threads provide an incredible amount of value to the forum so we keep them on the site for others to benefit from.
