Having a bit of a clear-out, found two Accuchek Aviva meters and an Accuchek Nano, I seem to remember that at least 2 of these were bought in meter emergency failures at airports

My question now is whether they are worth keeping, mainly because they all have a 'chip' which I assume is no longer valid? I now use a pump with an Expert meter, also use Libre, so they would be extreme emergency use anyway. I struggle with getting rid of 'stuff' that my daughter continually complains I have collected over my lifetime, so trying really hard here!!

The meters should be ok to use, some of the older meters you used to have to use a coding strip which came with the pot of test strips, as far as I know these are long gone or like some suppliers they started putting in a coding strip that once used meant the meters no longer needed to be coded before using a new pot of strips.

The last couple of meters I had I gave to someone who needed them, but kept the lancing device, though still have a collection of meters up in the loft.

I'm not sure you can pass on used meters once they have been used to any of those international diabetes charities, because of the proximity to blood?

I've got loads of old meters, most of which I've never actually used, so they are effectively 'as new' - I found one the other day that a rep gave me at my diabetes education course over 9 years ago, still in the box, but as has been said, the technology has moved on and they may not even make strips them any more, so no use to charities.
