Hi, I'm Kate, your friendly neighbourhood dress and costume fairy!

My son was diagnosed Type 1 this week, right in the middle of his GCSE exams! Oh, joy. Not. 🙄

Hubby was diagnosed Type 1 16 years ago, Even dinosaurs have tails... 😛

I'm feeling somewhat battered by events.

Hi Kate, welcome to the forum 🙂 Please feel free to jump right in and ask anything that may be new to you - despite your experience, there's always something new to learn! 🙂

welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your son...............your hubby and him can face it together I suppose................🙂

i was diagnosed when I was 15, 12 years now, diabetes is still a pain, but its a lot easier now than it was then.......

take care.......

Hello Kate, welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear your son has had to join our exclusive club.
Must be the pits as well whilst exams are in progress.
As everything is all messed up at the moment and will affect his results, write to the School head and tell him so and ask the consultant to do so as well if needed and your son's marks can be adjusted if he doesn't do as well as expected due to he unstable blood sugars.

Best wishes
Sue

Exam boards have things in place for such contingencies: it just takes a phone call and a medical certificate. School is already aware, and we're waiting on the cert.

We have him home again now. Bit of a woble over the finger pricking this evening, but otherwise, so far, so good...

Thanks for the warm and friendly welcome.
