Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all. Have been a type 2 for 47 years. Controlled with Gliclazide and Metformin IR . Recently I asked my diabetic nurse if I could change from Metformin OR to Metformin SR. Wish I hadn't as had terrible stomach problems since. I have a few Metformin OR left. Am thinking of trying them again for a few days to see if stomach problems settle. Never had stomach problems before changing.
Very informative and useful site. Wish I had joined earlier.
Best wishes to all

Hi Frazzled, welcome to the forum. My iPad loves putting its own words in too it has a particular knack with spelling tas well . :D😱:D
I have no experience with Metformin SR. It might be worth haveing a telephone appointment with the nurse about changing back. My understanding with Metformin is that it takes a while to build up in the system, so if you went back to the other pills, it’s likely you’d still be suffering for a while. I doubt swapping back to your old ones till you speak to the nurse would cause any problems.
