Hi,

I'm filling out my form to renew my licence for another 3 years, no probs control is very good.

The question - Have you had an episode of hypoglycaemia?

Last few times I ticked No, not a total lie but maybe a stretch of the truth!

What is classified as an episode of hypo? Using the episode word makes it sound lengthy and serious!

The next question asks about severe hypos - one needing assistance from another person.

I have never ever needed assistance so am I worrying about nothing and should I just say yes to having a hypo or but no to severe?

Any thoughts welcome as if I loose my licence I would be ****** (insert naughty word)

Cheers all,

Rossi/

If you have hypos tick yes and then tick the box to say you recognised the hypos. It's just to make sure you are hypo aware no catch question at all.

If you haven't had an ambulance call or someone shoving glucose down your throat then tick no.

Yes - one is so they know you're aware (cos let's face it, if you are T1 on insulin and say you've never had a hypo - then you're either lying or so unusual you ought to be put in a glass cabinet and studied, LOL) and the other Q is the 'Assisted' hypos. So the answers they are looking for and hope to get cos it makes it easy for them LOL are 'Yes' and 'No'.

I tick 'yes' for having hypos and 'no' for severe and have not had a problem getting my license renewed.

Not needed any help for years, though about 5 years ago I would *definitely* have lost my license with the number of times overnight/waking I needed a helping hand (thanks Lantus!). Almost never had SH during the day though... but hey ho - the DVLA treat em all the same!

I have just renewed my driving licence, came back in about five days. I ticked no for having hypos as I consider the question a bit ambiguous. The form is about renewing your driving licence, so as I always take extra precautions before and during driving long distances, which means I don't have hypos when driving, I ticked no. If the form had been worded in a different way, then I would have said yes. However, in the last 12 months I have only had 12 hypos, mainly when working in the garden or washing the car. Obviously must reconsider these activities!
