Going to pamplona 1st (to Watch the bulls !) then benalmadena in southern spain this year. A few mile but a bit hotter than here. Camping this weekend in cumbria all on M/bike 😎
Spannish trip over 3000mile, Really looking forward to it. Pamploma is suppose to be best festival in spain. Am going with my mates from rugby club. Dummy run to cumbria. I love doing distances on bike. Went to telford last weekend. 220m there 220m back (3 days voulenteering work). 😎
Used to love going abroad on a bike! Furthest (in one holiday) was the Gorge du Verdon in Provence. Not sure if that was on the Bird or the Trophy. Two olde fartes in a bivvy. A Coleman (unleaded) petrol stove - and a siphoning tube, a teeny tiny 12v air pump (for the airbed) Camped on Naturist sites - cuts down how many clothes you need .....
I take it you are crossing to Calais-ish then, rather than the expensive Santander ferry!
Last time we biked it we came back from Calais with an Italian on a Guzzi who'd ridden straight from Milan, was going to his mate's wedding in Dublin but thought he better find a B&B in Dover as he was feeling a bit tired - and a boring looking middle-aged Englishman on a brand spanking new Rocket 3 - we didn't think they were quite 'out' yet? - turned out he was a test rider for Triumph and he'd just ridden from Barcelona-ish where they'd been hot-weather track testing! We felt even more like Olde Fartes that day!
I love all the waving and saying thankyou with your leg to cars moving over for you to pass, they are soooooooooooooo much more bike-aware sur le Continong. (high wave for tourers, low wave for sports bikes - we eventually opted for a somewhere in the middle wave - on a sports-tourer!)
lol those rocket threes are fantastic.... i bought my harley for riding to spain but since then had my son so not done it yet.... but by next year he will be big enough to go on the back.... not all the way to spain yet.... but will open up a whole load more stuff i can do 🙂
Hi trophwench, i new you where into motorhomes but not BIKES aswell ! I have been to Asia 11 countries, Italy twice & Norway,Astonia,Latvia,Lithuania, and stood on Russian border. T1 for 45yrs DONT tell me i cant ! I could talk all day about trips on bikes. I hope its not to cold at weekend Medusa, weather is guess work at moment 😉
Sadly I only pillion HOBIE. If I could ride, my legs are far too short anyway for either of Pete's beasties. (He just wishes he never sold his Bonnie in 1960 whenever LOL) There's also a 1965 BSA Lightning in bits in the bike shed - which is in truth quite a large garage, just we've never had any car in it as it's so full of bike! so I always call it the bike shed LOL)
Funnily enough, the chap that still runs the Blackbird forum is on the same Motorhome forum as us. (He's not diabetic yet though 😱)
He probably thinks we're stalking him !
I envy you your trips, for you and proper riders everywhere - but they may have been a tad too far for this pillion! Still Pete hasn't seen the views from the rive gauche of the Verdon gorge - too busy watching out for gravel, the 18" high wooden crash barrier on the edge, and Winnebagos apparently - and I have !
lol well being pillion you can appreciate views 🙂 i always see stuff out of the corner of my eye and curse that there is no safe place to pull the bike over...... poor bloke prob thinks he is doomed to get diabetes.... so nice for me tho to meet few folk on here who are into the same things as i am and diabetic too......
Trophywench = Triumph Trophy ?
Always had Kawasakis myself hence Kwaka1, but now I'm the proud owner of a Triumph Thruxton, and loving it! Couldn't do huge mileage on it though, owing to low set clip ons, but anything over 80mph you don't notice your wrists aching.
