I'm off to Rome in a couple of weeks, in the land of pasta and pizza, and I'm a little, not worried, but unsure of how easy it's going to be when I go. I love Italian food, so it's going to be hard not to have all the lovely stuff I usually do. I was just wondering what experiences others had had going abroad on holiday.

Went to Crete earlier this year. Greek food (without the bread & chips) is good for us diabetics & plenty of salads. I still treated myself every now & then. Previous year went to Bulgaria. It was all inclusive & was easy to pick lower carb stuff.

Lots of choice in salads & vegetables.... I actually prefer that to pasta.... The pizza we found was really thin crust so I was able to treat myself to a slice of my wife's. My advice is to test & if you see your numbers going up then cut back on the carbs.

Absolutely, Italian food doesn't have to be all pizza and pasta even though they're very tempting!

I'm just back from Bulgaria and love the fact that menus had full pages of different salads unlike the pathetic offering we sometimes get on British menus. Just choose carefully and allow yourself the odd indulgence 🙂
