Very odd night last night. I had 2 bottles of lager and a good slosh of jack Daniels about 9pm. My bg was 6.8. Didn't take any insulin as I expected the alcohol to drop me overnight. Ate about 100g of Brie which has been known to cause a rise.
Went to bed about 1am on 10.4. Didn't adjust as I was expecting a drop.
Woke up at 4am feeling very sick, 12.6 and ++ urine keytones. Changed cannula and gave myself 2u which would normally drop me 10mmols. Set my alarm for 6am.
6am tested at 14.6 and tested blood keytones which were lo. Took 4u. Tested at 7am 15.8. 8am 13.9 10am 12.4 just took another 4u.

Would you change the cannula again? Any ideas what might have happened?

Maybe the fast acting you had at 4am was dealing with the continuing rise?

Odd you didn't drop tho from the booze but I've dropped 12 hours later before now

Hope you feel better soon

Ta Laura. That is certainly possible. I am 7.7 now so it's not the pump.

That's good to hear.

Now I hope it was the nice JD!

I dont find i drop much from smaller amounts of alcohol, I find the bg drop will only kick in if im well and truly sloshed, meaning ive had at least 2 pints!! - :D Lol ok a few more than that.

4 or 5 pints +
or
3 large red wines +
or
3 or 4 doubles +

I would probably expect some kind of effect on me for lowering readings over night and more predominantly my insulin sensitivity the next day.

If I only have a couple Ill need to inject for the carbs. For example: -

The first couple of pints - Ill inject my normal ratios for the full amount of carbs in the beer.
The next couple: - Ill think about doing half or 3/4s
After that - Well I usually forget im diabetic and your guess is as good as mine! To be fair I usually swap over to the vodkas and diet mixers at this point.

Maybe the fat in the cheese made the carbs in the beer spike later on
