Ooh lovely tried some at work with squid few weeks ago and it was nicer then I thought

I had some squid i cyprus a few year ago from the market. Uf you were in the sea swimming next to this you would have been swimming fast it was a big un ! I like squid aswell no carbs ! 🙂

Can't help wondering which species of octopus can be eaten whole? Octopus vulgaris, the most common in European waters get pretty big, so you could only eat a young one whole. Plus, you'd have to remove the hard beak first.

Well, allegedly years ago when they were available to buy live in any decent fish market in Spain, or direct from the fishermen on t'front - you stuck em in a large pan with a weight on the lid, but meself AFAIK the only octopus I've ever tried eating was deep fried tentacles, in a starter at the Parador in Granada amongst one of the 35 individual dishes in their standard Entremeses Variados, and they were from a teeny tiny one, which I thought was a terrible shame really. They were just crunchy but ooh, could still see the suckers. Poor little thing.

I have tried calamari more than once, but has always been like soggily battered deep fried elastic bands, exceedingly chewy but does taste a bit like fish. Someone next to me had a whole one once which I tried a bit of, but that tasted just the same. No pleasure for me

I mean I do like various kinds of fish, not just the white variety that some folk restrict themselves to - but I have to draw the line somewhere. (like whole fish, I really have to ask em to remove the head, can cope with the rest ...... don't even like dealing with whole prawns but can do so as long as we can have the rubbish dish taken away pdq!)

:D

When travelling in China, I often had to select dishes from the menu by pointing at photos. Chose a nice-looking beef with noodles. Wondered why the mushrooms tasted fishy... and then spotted one with tentacles!
