Apologies if I should be putting this somewhere else.

I’ve been a type 1 for about 30 years and I’m currently self funding Libre 2 sensors and have done for the last 2 years. For me this is a game changer.

How do I go about having these prescribed to me by my GP so I don’t have to self fund? My GP’s diabetic nurse has said it’s the responsibility of the hospital to prescribe these but I don’t believe this is correct. Could anyone else provide some info on how I can progress this?

It is incorrect. GPs can prescribe Libre 2 (or Dexcom One, or one of 2 other CGMs that don't seem so popular), and the NICE guidelines (since April) recommend that everyone with Type 1 should be offered a CGM that works for them.

In your case it should be really easy: you've been using Libre 2 and are happy with it, so your GP should just go ahead and prescribe it. (If the hospital wants to offer some other CGM they can easily do that, and then your GP can remove or replace Libre 2, but for the moment Libre 2 seems likely to be what everyone's going to be happy with.)

By all means ask your hospital team to give your GP a shove in the right direction, but you were right to ask your GP and the nurse in your practice should have just added it to your prescription.

Actually my practice nurse subscribed my libre not even the gp.

Good luck
