The obesity epidemic in Wales is getting worse, with more than a third of people in Wales saying their day-to-day activities are limited by a disability or health problem.

The latest annual Welsh Health Survey, released yesterday, shows more than half of adults are overweight, with fewer eating fruit and vegetables and no improvement in the numbers exercising regularly.

Little progress has also been made on tackling Wales? binge-drinking culture, with the problem almost as prevalent now as it was three years ago.

The one positive to emerge from the latest report is a small reduction in smoking rates over the eight years of the survey, with the percentage of smokers falling from 26% to 23% between 2003 and 2011.
