Obesity now considered a disease

The American Medical Association is now saying obesity is a disease and not just a public health problem. Medical expenses associated with American obesity totals about $150 billion each year. Now, with the new disease designation, insurance companies will cover weight loss surgery. They may even consider covering nutritionists, counseling and other weight loss programs. There's no doubt about it ? America is packing on the pounds. More than 35 percent of U.S. adults and 17 percent of children and teens are obese. We have to look further into it. We have to stop this disease.
