Has anyone actualy ever become mineral deficient after consuming nuts or too many of them from phytic acid,I have read that it blocks iron, zinc and calcium absorption?

And on a seperate note has anyone ever become b12 deficient from following a Keto diet?I'm sure I read something about that

Wallnuts nutritional value: https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/health-benefits-walnuts

Like all nuts, walnuts contain good fats, such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs), but they are also a valuable vegetarian source of the essential fatty acid omega-3. They also contain iron, selenium, calcium, zinc, vitamin E and some B vitamins.

Yes I will go with that @Jodee I think there is probably a scare story for everything,as long as I keep them out of my eyeline I think they cover a few bases, help meeting calories/fats and as you say a good vitamin content, they don't involve me cooking either 😉
Have a good day,I hope you're having a sunny day,I've just finished my last bit of pruning ivy on a 20' high wall in my garden,I wouln't have been able to consider that before losing weight this year as I felt so heavy at any height.time to relax now.

Just put my shorts on and ready to go back out with a book, I ate my first mini cucumber today (home grown) and I had a close encounter with a bee this morning, just magic :D Have a great day x Well done with pruning the Ivy .

@belugalad Well Done! Both for the weight loss and the pruning. Have just finished a marathon Leylandii hedge cutting. Its a great feeling having a huge job accomplished.
As for scare stories someone told me that people get selenium poisioning from eating too many brazil nuts. That the safe level is two a day! Of course if this was true Brazil nuts would be sold in packets of two, with a goverment health warning and cashiers would not allow multiple purchases...

edited to add: Had no idea what phytic acid is, or does. Looked it up on Google.
Apparently it can interfere with the absorbtion of minerals, but only for the meal in which it is included. It also states that this is much more likely to be a problem for vegetarians and vegans. Those who eat meat are rarely at risk of iron deficiency.

Brazils are one of my favourite nuts could never have only had 2. I now dont eat as I find nuts aggravate my IBS.

Worth noting, if relevant to you, that metformin can affect B12 levels negatively too. I'm a vegan of 11 years so I supplement in addition to eating fortified foods (soy milk, marmite, nutritional yeast, soy yoghurt).
