Diabetes UK is recruiting 16 clinicians to become local clinical champions as part of a project aimed at improving services for patients with diabetes.

Nurses and other healthcare professionals with experience of treating the complex needs of patients with diabetes and the potential to lead change are being encouraged to apply. The two-year voluntary clinical champions role includes a package of support and training.

As part of the clinical champions project, which is in its second year, the charity Diabetes UK wants to improve care locally and work to improve links between primary and secondary care. It aims to help the 3.2 million people in the UK diagnosed with the condition and the further 630,000 people who are unaware they are diabetic.
